How far apart are the day 0, day 3 and day 7 emails sent?
Each follow-up is timed from when the previous email actually went out, either sent by Outreach Autopilot or recorded when you clicked Mark As Sent, not from when you approved it. The Day 3: Bump is due 3 days after the opener went out, and the Day 7: Breakup is due 4 days after the bump went out. One exception is when every earlier email was skipped: with nothing sent to count from, the day number counts from when you approved the first email in that sequence instead.
How the timing works
- Day 0: Opener: goes first. Nothing waits in front of it.
- Day 3: Bump: due 3 days after the opener went out.
- Day 7: Breakup: due 4 days after the bump went out. If you skipped the bump, it is due 7 days after the opener went out.
Approving all three emails on the same day does not bring the follow-ups forward. As long as an earlier email has gone out, each one still counts from the moment the email before it was sent.
With Outreach Autopilot on
Outreach Autopilot (Agency Pro and Agency Empire) sends approved emails from your connected mailbox.
- A follow-up never goes out while the opener is still waiting. If the opener is a draft, or approved but not sent yet, an approved follow-up waits and its note says it will send after the day 0 email goes out (approve or skip it first).
- Once the opener has gone out, a day 3 email you leave as a draft does not hold back an approved day 7 email. The breakup is then due 7 days after the opener, so approve or skip the bump if you want it sent first.
- When an email is due, Autopilot sends it on its first run inside your Sending Hours, while today's ramp allowance and your mailbox's daily cap have room. Autopilot runs every 10 minutes. The default hours are 13:00 to 21:00 UTC, Monday to Friday, so an email that falls due on a Saturday waits until Monday.
- It sends at most one email per lead on each run, and it stops as soon as the prospect replies.
- The blue Approved. note under each approved email tells you when Autopilot will send it.
With Outreach Autopilot off
Nothing goes out by itself. You approve every email, including day 3 and day 7, send it from your own inbox, then click Mark As Sent in the Queue. The time you click Mark As Sent is the time the next email counts from, so click it straight after you send. The follow-ups due card in the Today panel on your Dashboard lists leads whose next drafted email has come due. An email you have already approved but not yet sent is not counted there. If you never clicked Mark As Sent on the earlier email, that card counts from the moment you approved it instead, so a follow-up can turn up there before you have actually sent anything.
