How do I draft a 3-touch email sequence for a lead?
In the Outreach Queue, go to a lead that has no emails drafted yet and click ✦ Draft 3-Touch Sequence. The AI writes three emails for that lead, Day 0: Opener, Day 3: Bump and Day 7: Breakup, each one leading with a different verified fact from the lead's audit. Nothing is sent at this stage: each email waits in the Queue until you approve it and it is sent.
Steps
- Click Outreach Queue in the sidebar and use ← Prev and Next → to reach the lead. A lead without a sequence shows No sequence drafted yet for this lead.
- To start from a lead instead, open it from your search results or the Pipeline and click Draft Emails In Queue at the top of its Outreach Activity section. The Queue opens on that lead. On a Pipeline card, Draft Emails → does the same.
- Optional: if you have saved templates on the Email Templates page, three dropdowns appear above the button, Day 0 template, Day 3 template and Day 7 template. Pick a template for any day you want the AI to follow, or leave it on No template (AI writes it). If a template is already that day's default (set with Use as the AI's skeleton for: on Email Templates, or under Writing Style in Settings), the dropdown shows Default: and the template's name.
- Click ✦ Draft 3-Touch Sequence. It shows Drafting 3 touches… while the AI works.
- The three emails appear as tabs. Click each tab to read it, then approve, edit or skip it.
What the AI writes
- Day 0: Opener: the first email. It includes a link to the lead's proof page (their live audit report). If the AI did not place the link itself, it is added as a P.S. at the end.
- Day 3: Bump: shorter than the opener, with a new reason to reply.
- Day 7: Breakup: the shortest. It politely closes the loop and leaves the door open. If you have services in My Services, it names the one that fixes their main problem and gives its price.
The AI is told to open each email with a different verified fact, keep each one to 60 to 120 words (or your Max words per cold email; an email built on a template matches the template's length instead), use one call to action and keep subject lines under 7 words. It also follows your Writing Style in Settings: your voice, greeting, signature, call to action, phrases to avoid and the per-day notes under Sequence defaults per day. The sequence is capped at 3 emails, because more reads as desperation.
Good to know
- Drafting never emails anyone. Approving does not send either unless Outreach Autopilot is on with a connected mailbox. See Does approving a draft send the email?
- The Queue lists leads that have an email address. Draft Emails In Queue opens a lead even when it has none. Showing leads without an email.
- Once a lead has a sequence, the tabs replace the draft button. To change one email later, edit or regenerate just that day.
- The lead's Outreach Activity records Sequence drafted by the AI.
- Drafting does not use any of your monthly searches.
