How do I write a cold email with AI for a lead?
Open the lead, scroll to Cold Email (personalized to this audit) and click ✦ Write With AI. The AI writes a subject and a short email from that lead's verified audit, with a P.S. linking to the lead's live proof page, and Regenerate gives you a fresh version. Send it with Copy, Open In Gmail, Open In Outlook or Mail App, then click Mark As Sent so the send is recorded and a lead you have not contacted yet moves to Contacted.
Steps
- Open the lead by clicking its row in your search results or its card on your Pipeline.
- Scroll down to Cold Email (personalized to this audit) and click ✦ Write With AI. The button reads Writing… while the AI works.
- Read the email. The subject is in bold above the body. If you want a different version, click Regenerate.
- Send it from your own email with one of the buttons under it (see below).
- Once you have sent it, come back to the lead and click Mark As Sent.
The send buttons
- Copy puts the email on your clipboard, with a
Subject:line at the top, and briefly shows ✓ Copied. - Open In Gmail and Open In Outlook open a new message in a new browser tab, addressed to the lead, with the subject and body filled in.
- Mail App opens the same new message in your computer's default email app.
These buttons only hand you the text. They never change the lead.
What the AI writes
- A subject line under 7 words.
- A body of 90 to 130 words, unless you set Max words per cold email in Writing Style.
- 1 or 2 specific, verified facts about the business, leading with its problem and what that costs it.
- The service from your My Services list that fixes that problem (when you have services set up), and one call to action.
- Your signature, or your name if you have not set a signature. No em dashes.
- A P.S. with the link to the lead's live proof page: "I put everything we found in a live report you can check yourself". It sits after your signature, and it uses your own domain once your custom domain is verified.

What Mark As Sent does
Mark As Sent is the button that records the send:
- It adds a line to the lead's Outreach Activity, for example "One-off email sent from Gmail (you marked it sent)". It names the app you last opened the email in, or says "your own inbox" if you only copied it.
- If you have not contacted the lead yet, it moves to Contacted and shows in the Contacted column of your Pipeline, even if you never added the lead to the Pipeline yourself. A lead at any other stage keeps the stage it is on.
Good to know
- The email is not saved on the lead. If you close the lead, it is gone, so send or copy it first. Clicking ✦ Write With AI again writes a new one.
- You cannot edit the text inside the lead. Make any changes in Gmail, Outlook or your mail app before you send.
- Open In Gmail, Open In Outlook, Mail App and Mark As Sent only show when the lead has an email address. Without one you only see Copy. You can add an address with ✎ Edit Details.
- This writes one email. For a day 0, day 3 and day 7 series, draft a 3-touch sequence in the Outreach Queue instead.
