Why is my mailbox marked PAUSED, and how do I pause or remove one myself?

Outreach Autopilot and Sending Hours · Updated September 23, 2026

A mailbox is paused automatically when 3 sends in a row fail, and shows PAUSED (repeated failures), so a broken login does not keep failing emails in your name. A paused mailbox is never used for sending until you fix the cause and click Resume, which also resets its failure count. You can Pause or Remove any mailbox yourself in the Outreach Autopilot card in Settings.

How automatic pausing works

  • Only emails Autopilot sends go through your connected mailbox: approved outreach emails and Reply Autopilot answers. Emails you send from your own inbox and mark sent never use it.
  • A send counts as a failure when your mail provider refuses it or cannot be reached. One successful send resets the count to zero.
  • After 3 failures in a row, Legiit Leads pauses the mailbox. The email that failed stays approved and is tried again on the next run, from another active mailbox if you have one.
  • If no other mailbox is active, Autopilot stops sending. With Auto-Send on, the Outreach Queue then shows Autopilot is switched on but cannot send. See what to do.

What the badges mean

  • CONNECTED: verified and in use.
  • PAUSED (repeated failures): Legiit Leads paused it after 3 failed sends in a row.
  • PAUSED: you paused it.

Each mailbox also shows how many emails it sent today against its daily cap, for example 12/30 sent today.

Fix a mailbox paused for repeated failures

  1. Legiit Leads does not show your mail provider's error message, so start with what changed: a new password or app password, two-factor turned on, or your provider limiting the account. The quickest way to see the provider's own message is to click Remove, then + Connect A Mailbox and Connect And Verify with the current details: if the login is the problem, the form says so.
  2. If the login changed, connect the mailbox again the same way, with the new details. Connect And Verify tests the login before saving, so you know straight away that it works. A saved mailbox's password cannot be edited, which is why a changed password means removing and reconnecting.
  3. If the login is unchanged and the problem is fixed, click Resume.
Resume does not test the login. If sends keep failing, the mailbox pauses itself again after 3 more failures.

Pause, resume or remove a mailbox yourself

  1. Open Settings and find the Outreach Autopilot card.
  2. Click Pause next to a mailbox to stop Autopilot sending from it. It keeps its details and shows PAUSED.
  3. Click Resume to use it again.
  4. Click Remove to disconnect it. Your browser asks you to confirm Disconnect followed by the address. A removed mailbox has to be connected again from scratch.

Good to know

  • Pausing or removing a mailbox does not switch off Auto-Send. Autopilot keeps sending from your other active mailboxes.
  • Connecting, pausing and removing mailboxes works on every plan. Letting Autopilot send from them needs Agency Pro or Agency Empire. See which plan you need.
