Why did the send governor block my approval, and can I override it?
You have already approved as many emails today as your send ramp allows, so the send governor stops the next approval: pushing new outreach past the ramp is how sending domains end up in spam. You can override it. When the Queue asks Approve anyway?, click OK and that one email is approved. Otherwise, wait until the count resets at midnight in your Sending Hours time zone.
What you see
When you click Approve + Copy, Approve + Gmail, Approve + Outlook or Approve + Mail App after reaching the allowance, your browser shows a box with this message, followed by Approve anyway?:
Send governor: you've hit today's ramp allowance (20). Pushing past the ramp is how domains land in spam.
The number in brackets is today's allowance. The send ramp bar above your leads also turns red and reads 🛑 Daily ramp allowance reached, with your count, such as 20 / 20 approvals, and the time it resets.
Your two choices
- Click OK to approve anyway. The email is approved as normal, and if you used a Gmail, Outlook or Mail App button, the compose window opens. The override covers that one email only: every further approval today asks again.
- Click Cancel to wait. The draft stays a draft and no compose window opens. With Approve + Copy, the text is already on your clipboard, but the email is not approved. Any edits stay in the editor: click Save Edits to keep them without approving.
What the governor counts
- Approvals only. Save Edits, Skip Touch and Mark As Sent are never blocked. Opening an email you already approved again with Copy Text, Open In Gmail, Open In Outlook or Open In Mail App does not count again.
- Approvals since midnight in the time zone of your Sending Hours. If you have never saved your own Sending Hours, that is midnight UTC. The red bar names the zone, for example Resets at midnight UTC time.
- Forced approvals too. An approval you push through still counts, so the bar can show more than the allowance, such as
23 / 20 approvals.
The allowance grows with your account: 20 a day for the first 7 days after your first approval, 40 a day in the second week, 75 in the third, then 100 a day. See how many emails you can approve per day.
Good to know
- Outreach Autopilot keeps to the same daily allowance for the emails it sends. Approvals you force past it do not make Autopilot send more that day: the extra emails wait for a later day.
- The send governor is on every plan, and it only looks at your approval count. Your Deliverability Guardian results never block an approval.
