What do the search statuses Running, Complete and Error mean?

Where you see the status

The status shows as a coloured pill in the Status column of Search History, and in the Recent Searches table on the Dashboard:

• Running is amber.
• Complete is green.
• Error is red.

The Leads column next to it shows a number only for a complete search. While a search is running, or if it ended in an error, it shows … instead.

Running

Your search is Running from the moment you click Search. On the results page:

• The subtitle reads Searching Google Places and auditing every website live. Leads appear as they finish…
• A dark bar shows LIVE: auditing this market, with running totals for leads found, verified problems and est. sellable pipeline.
• The page checks for new leads every few seconds by itself, so you do not need to reload it.

Searches take turns, so a search can show Running for a little while before its first lead appears. If one stays on Running for much longer than usual, see why a search is stuck on running.

Complete

Every website audit, and every check that runs as part of the search, has finished.

• The subtitle changes to the final count, for example 24 leads · source: Google Places + live website audits.
• The dark bar turns white (or disappears if no leads matched), and the lead count appears in Search History.
• No more leads are added from this point. Background checks can still sharpen a lead's problems and score, as explained in why problems and scores change after a search completes.
• If nothing matched your filters, you see No leads matched the selected problems. Try fewer problem filters or a broader location. See why a search returns few or no leads.

Error

The search stopped before it could finish, usually because Google's business listings could not be reached. The results page shows the reason in a red box, or Search failed. if no reason was recorded, and Search History shows … instead of a lead count.
