Why did my leads' problems and scores change after the search said complete?
Two checks keep running in the background after a search says complete. Google's PageSpeed test loads up to 25 of the leads' websites for real and uses what it sees to confirm or clear findings the first audit could not be sure of, which can add or remove problems and change scores. The results page stops refreshing itself once the search is complete, so reload it to see these updates.
The Google PageSpeed check
- Which leads. Leads whose website loaded, did not hit a bot-protection page, and still have at least one finding the first audit could only call likely or unverified. Up to 25 leads per search are checked, 2 at a time.
- How long. Each check takes about 20 seconds, so the last updates can land several minutes after the search says complete.
- What it changes. Google's real page load can confirm a finding (a hint under Worth a look, not verified becomes a problem pill and the score can go up) or clear one (the tool was there after all, so the finding goes and the score can go down). The lead's problems, hints and score are then worked out again.
- What it adds. The lead gets a Google PageSpeed row in its Live Website Audit with Google's score out of 100, the Pages checked row usually gains + Google rendered load, and a phone screenshot of the site is saved for the proof page.
Anything you changed on the lead in the meantime, such as notes, its status or edited details, is kept. Findings you removed with Something not accurate? stay removed. A lead is never taken off your results by this check, even if the finding it matched on is cleared.
The competitor check
If the AI check named businesses for your search, up to 5 of them are profiled. A name that is already one of your leads reuses the rating, reviews and audit you already have. Any other name is looked up on Google for its rating and reviews, and its website is checked for a secure connection, load time and schema markup. A name that cannot be found on Google is skipped, so you may see fewer than 5. This does not change your leads or their scores. It fills in the Who's getting those customers instead table on the proof page of leads the AI did not name.
Seeing the updates
Reload the results page, or reopen the search from Search History, a few minutes after it completes. The table re-sorts by the new scores, and the live ticker totals update too.
