How do I run a new search?

Running a Search · Updated September 23, 2026

Click New Search in the sidebar, type a business type in Keywords and a city in Location, pick the problems you can fix, then click Search. You land straight on the results page, where leads appear one by one as each website audit finishes. Every search starts from up to 60 businesses.

The New Search form: keywords, location, and the problems you can fix.

Steps

  1. Click New Search in the sidebar. The page opens with the subtitle Pick the problems you can fix. We find local businesses that verifiably have them.
  2. In Keywords, type the kind of business you want to find, for example dentist, roofing company or med spa. The section below explains what works best.
  3. In Location, type the city. Once you have typed 3 characters, Google suggests matching cities. Pick one, or keep typing your own text if none fits.
  4. If you want, tick Only show leads with an email address found on their site, Email me the results as a CSV when the search finishes, or both.
  5. Pick the problems you can fix. The pills above the cards, starting with All Agency Types, narrow the cards to one agency type. If you ticked a single agency type in the Your Agency card in Settings, the page opens showing only that type's cards, so click All Agency Types to see every card. Click a card to select it (a tick appears) and click it again to clear it. As the page says, Leave problems unselected to get every lead with its full audit.
  6. Click Search.

What the Search button shows

  • It stays greyed out until both Keywords and Location contain text.
  • It counts the problems you picked, for example Search (3 problems).
  • It reads Starting… while your search is being created.

What to type in Keywords

Type one plain business type, the way a customer would describe it. Your keywords do 3 jobs:

  • They are the Google search. Legiit Leads asks Google for your keywords, the word "in", then your location. dentist and Austin, TX becomes dentist in Austin, TX. If you stack several trades into one box, they all go into that single search.
  • They drive the Weak Title Tag check. Each homepage title is checked for whether it mentions what the business does. Plurals and filler words such as best, near, me, services and company are ignored, and common trade synonyms count as a match, so a lawyer whose title says attorney or law firm passes, and hvac matches heating or cooling.
  • They name the search. The results page is titled with your keywords and location (for example dentist in Austin, TX), and the keywords appear in the Keywords column of Search History.

The results page opens straight away. While the search runs, the subtitle reads Searching Google Places and auditing every website live. Leads appear as they finish… and a dark bar shows LIVE: auditing this market. The page refreshes itself, so there is no need to reload. How many of the up to 60 businesses end up in your list depends on the problems you picked and on the email box.

If it does not work

If the search cannot start, a red message appears above the Search button and the button works again. The common ones are:
