Why does it say my account is not on a plan yet, so searches are locked?
The purple banner Your account is not on a plan yet, so searches are locked. means your account has no active, trial, past due or Lifetime plan, for example because checkout was never finished or your plan was cancelled. Click Choose Your Plan in the banner, pick a plan under Your Plan in Settings, and you can search again as soon as checkout completes.
Why you see it
Every search needs a plan. The banner shows at the top of every page when your account has none of these:
- a plan that is active
- a plan in its 7 day free trial
- a plan that is past due while a payment is retried
- a Lifetime plan
The usual reasons are that you left Stripe checkout before paying, or that your subscription was cancelled and has now ended.
While the banner is showing, a search from New Search, AI Agent or Resurrect a List is refused with Your account does not have an active plan. Choose a plan in Settings to start searching. Every plan begins with a 7 day free trial. The searches meter at the bottom of the sidebar is hidden until you are on a plan.
Steps
- Click Choose Your Plan in the banner. Settings opens.
- In Your Plan, pick Monthly or Annual (2 Months Free) and click the Choose button on a plan, for example Choose Starter.
- Complete Stripe checkout. You return to the Dashboard and can search straight away.
If this is your account's first subscription, the first 7 days are free, as the banner says. If your account had a subscription before, for example one you cancelled, the new plan is charged at checkout. See How does the 7 day free trial work?
Good to know
- Team seats never see this banner, because they work on the account owner's plan.
- Right after a successful payment the banner is held back for a short while, because Stripe's confirmation can take a few seconds to be recorded. If it is back when you reload later, check Your Plan in Settings: once it shows your plan with a status such as free trial or active, the banner is gone the next time a page loads.
- A past due plan keeps working while the payment is retried, so it does not trigger this banner. See What does past_due mean on my plan?
