What does Only show leads with an email address found on their site do?
With Only show leads with an email address found on their site ticked, a business only makes it into your results if the live website audit found at least one email address on its pages. Every business without a website is dropped as well, because there is no site to find an email on. Leave the box unticked if you would rather see every business that matches your problems.
Where the emails come from
- The audit reads the business's homepage plus the contact, about and booking pages it can find, and collects every email address that appears on those pages.
- Anything that is not a real inbox is skipped: image file names that happen to contain an @, form hints such as
user@domain.com, and system addresses left in the code by website builders and error tracking tools. - Addresses on the business's own domain are listed first, so a web designer's address in the footer does not become the contact. Up to 5 addresses are kept.
- The first address is checked for working mail records on its domain. When it passes, the Contact column in your results shows a green ✓ next to it.
Why your list can get much shorter
A search starts from up to 60 businesses, and this box is applied on top of your problem cards: a business has to match a problem you picked and have an email on its site. Many local businesses only show a phone number or a contact form, so the box can remove a large part of the list.
Businesses that fail the filter are not saved anywhere. To see them, run the search again with the box unticked, which uses another search from your monthly allowance. If nothing is left at all, the page reads No leads matched the selected problems. Try fewer problem filters or a broader location. even when the email box was the reason.
Good to know
- The box starts unticked every time you open New Search.
- Searches built with the AI Agent, lists you bring in with Resurrect a List, and the first search the onboarding wizard runs for you always run with this option off.
