What is the Map-Pack Heatmap and how do I run a scan?

Steps

1. Open the lead from your search results.
2. Scroll down to Map-Pack Heatmap, just below the Live Website Audit.
3. Click 🗺 Scan Their Map Rank. The button shows Scanning 25 points… while it works, which takes about 30 seconds.
4. The grid and its summary appear in the section. To measure again later, click Rescan. The new scan replaces the old one.

How the scan works

• Legiit Leads finds the business on the map from its name and address and puts that spot in the centre of the grid, the ringed cell.
• It lays out 25 points in 5 rows of 5, each about 1 mile from the next, so the grid covers about 4 miles by 4 miles.
• From each point it runs a live Google Maps search and looks for the business by name in the results, the way a customer standing there would see them.
• The words searched are your search's keywords. If there are none, the lead's category is used instead.

What you will see

• The grid. One cell per point, showing the business's position on Google Maps from that spot, or ✗ where it did not appear. See What do the colours and numbers in the heatmap grid mean?
• How often it shows. The number of points where the business appeared, and the keyword searched, for example Visible at 9 of 25 points for "plumber".
• Best rank and average. The best position it reached, and its average position across the points where it appeared, for example Best rank 2 · average 6.4. When it did not appear anywhere, both show a dash.
• The scan date. Shown after the word Scanned.

The scan is saved on the lead and also appears on the lead's proof page, under Where you actually rank across town. If the business was visible at fewer than 13 of the 25 points, the proof page adds More than half your service area cannot find you on the map.

Heatmap scans and your plan

Every plan includes heatmap scans each month: 10 on Starter, 30 on Agency, and 100 on Agency Pro and Agency Empire. Each finished scan or Rescan uses one, and a scan that stops with an error does not. See How many heatmap scans do I get, and what happens when they run out?

If another agency sold you your account, the allowance comes from the plan they put you on: 5 scans a month on their Basic tier and 15 on their Plus tier. While that subscription is not active, scans are blocked and the message tells you to contact your provider.
