What does the AI-search ready row mean and how is llms.txt checked?

How llms.txt is checked

The audit asks the website for the file at its own address, for example smithdental.com/llms.txt, and waits up to 5 seconds. The file counts when:

• the site answers successfully,
• the file is not empty, and
• it is not a web page. Many sites answer any address with an ordinary web page, and that does not count.

Any file type is accepted. If the site does not answer in time, the file counts as missing. This result is always treated as verified.

The row only appears when the website loaded during the audit.

What the row shows

• Partial/Yes (green): at least one of the two is there. The row does not say which. If the Schema markup row says Found, the site has schema; if it says missing, the site has an llms.txt file.
• No (no llms.txt, no schema) (red): neither was found.

How it connects to No AI-search presence

1. When a site has neither, the lead gets No AI-search presence from the audit. If the schema check could not be confirmed, the problem goes in the Worth a look, not verified box instead.
2. When the search's AI Invisibility Check ran, the real answer overrides that guess. A lead the AI named loses No AI-search presence even with no llms.txt or schema, and a lead it did not name gets it even with both.
3. The AI-search ready row itself does not change, because it only describes the website.

On the proof page

When the site has no llms.txt, the proof page includes a ready-made file under Your llms.txt (save at yoursite.com/llms.txt so AI assistants can read you). In that same case, if the proof page shows the benchmark comparison, that block also has a line that starts Only X% are AI-search ready. There, X is the share of same-category businesses measured across Legiit Leads that have an llms.txt file. Schema does not count in that figure.
