Why did my territory not produce any alerts?
Almost always because the territory has only been scanned once. The first scan sets the baseline and has nothing to compare against, so alerts start from the second scan. After that, a scan only raises an alert when one of five specific things changed for a business, so a steady market can go a round or two with nothing to report.
The usual reasons
- Only one scan has run so far. The claim form says it on the way in: the first scan sets the baseline, and alerts start from the second. Until a second scan finishes, the territory has nothing to compare.
- Nothing on the list changed. Only five things raise an alert: a business appeared that was not there before, an SSL certificate broke, a website stopped responding, a business started running ads, or a Google rating fell below 4.0. Everything else passes without an alert.
- A business changed its name. Businesses are matched between scans by their name, so a business that renamed itself is treated as a new business and raises that alert instead of a website or rating one. Its other changes are missed until the next scan, which now has the new name as its baseline.
- The territory is paused. A paused territory is not scanned on the schedule, so it raises nothing on its own until you press Resume. You can still run a scan yourself with Re-Scan Now, or Run Baseline Scan if it has never been scanned.
- Your monthly searches are used up. Each scan is a full live search and uses one, so scheduled scans are skipped while the allowance is spent and no new alerts can be raised. Last scan on the card stays where it was, which is the giveaway. The searches meter at the bottom of the sidebar confirms it, and scans resume when the allowance resets on the 1st of the month. Why the section disappeared
Buying-window alerts is not an empty list, it is hidden. A territory card with no alerts at all simply does not show that part of the card, and the Market dynamics, last 60 days: line is hidden whenever no alert was raised in the last 60 days, even if older ones are still listed. Both come back the moment a scan raises something.
A quiet territory is not a broken one. Every scan is still a full live search and audit pass, so the scan's results are there to work even when nothing changed enough to be flagged.
