Why didn't my scheduled territory scan run on time?

Why a due scan can start late

A territory becomes due 7 days after the last scan that finished. The card shows this as Last scan, followed by re-scans every 7 days.

Due territories are collected once an hour rather than the moment they tip over, so one that comes due just after a check waits for the next one. That is normal, and no scan is skipped because of it.

After a failed attempt

Every attempt is counted the moment it starts, before the heavy work. If that attempt never finishes, because the live search behind it errors out or the scan is interrupted, it counts as a failure and the territory waits 6 hours from that attempt before it can be tried again.

Each further failure adds another 6 hours: 12 after a second, 18 after a third, up to a ceiling of 48 hours. The first scan that completes sets the count back to zero and the normal interval takes over again.

When your monthly searches are gone

A scan is a full live search and uses one of them, so a due territory is skipped whenever the month's allowance is spent. The territory stays exactly as it was: it is not paused, it keeps its alerts and history, and Last scan holds the date it already had. A skipped attempt is counted like a failed one, so the waiting period above applies before the next try: 6 hours after the first, longer if it keeps being skipped.

Re-Scan Now will not get round it either. The scan is refused with the same answer a search gets, You've used all 50 searches on your plan this month. Upgrade in Settings to keep hunting., with your own plan's number in place of 50, and nothing on the card changes. The searches meter at the bottom of the sidebar, reading 50 of 50 searches this month, is the quickest way to confirm that is what happened.

Scans start again by themselves when the allowance resets on the 1st of the month, or when you move to a plan with more searches.

How to tell a scan failed

Last scan only moves when a scan finishes. If the territory is not paused and that date is more than 7 days old by a few hours, either the last attempt did not complete or it was skipped for want of searches, so check the searches meter first. A failed attempt usually leaves its search in your Search History with the status Error, while a skipped one leaves nothing behind at all, because the search is never started. A scan cut off while Legiit Leads was restarting can keep showing Running until one of its later restarts closes it out.

Paused territories never run

A territory marked PAUSED is left out of the hourly check completely, however long it has been due. Press Resume on the card to put it back on the schedule.

Run a scan yourself

1. Open Monitored Markets in the sidebar.
2. Find the territory card.
3. Click Re-Scan Now, or Run Baseline Scan if the territory has never been scanned.
4. The card shows Scanning market… while the scan runs, and the page refreshes itself when it is done.

A manual scan ignores both the schedule and the waiting period after a failure, and it works on a paused territory too. What it cannot ignore is the allowance: it still uses one of your monthly searches, and it is refused when there are none left. When it completes, the clock starts again from that scan.

Only one scan runs per territory at a time. While one is in progress the card shows Scanning market… in place of the button, and a second scan cannot be started until it finishes.
