How do I require a deposit or full payment when a prospect accepts?

Getting Paid · Updated September 22, 2026

Accept-to-Pay makes accepting your proposal and paying for it one step. Once Stripe is connected, pick Deposit due at acceptance or Full amount due in the proposal editor's Accept-to-Pay row before you publish. The prospect then pays by card on Stripe Checkout when they accept, and the deal only turns Won once Stripe confirms the payment.

Before you start

Connect your Stripe account in Settings, in the Get Paid card, and wait until it shows ✓ STRIPE CONNECTED · payments enabled. Until then, the proposal editor shows Connect Stripe in Settings (Get Paid) to require payment at acceptance. in place of the payment options, and any proposal you publish is signature only. See How do I connect Stripe so I can get paid through Legiit Leads?

Steps

  1. Open the lead and click 💰 Attach Priced Proposal, or Edit Priced Proposal if one is already live.
  2. Set your line items and the optional note.
  3. In the Accept-to-Pay row, choose Signature only (no payment), Deposit due at acceptance or Full amount due.
  4. For a deposit, type the percentage in the small box with the % sign. It starts at 50. Use a whole number from 10 to 100: smaller numbers are raised to 10%, larger ones lowered to 100%, and an empty box or 0 uses 50%.
  5. Click the publish button, which shows your total, for example Publish $1,500 Proposal.

What the prospect sees

  • The accept button shows the exact amount due, for example Accept and Pay $750 Deposit or Accept and Pay $1,500. It is worked out the same way as the Stripe charge, so the two always match.
  • They type their full name, tick the box agreeing to the work at the price shown, and click the button. They go straight to Stripe Checkout on your Stripe account and pay by card.
  • They are charged in the proposal's currency, which is the Currency you had in Settings when you published it.
  • After paying they return to the proof page, which checks the payment with Stripe and then shows the offer as accepted and paid.
  • If they cancel on Stripe, they come back to the proof page with nothing accepted and can try again.

What happens when they pay

  • The deal moves to Won only after Stripe confirms the payment, and the amount paid is saved on the proposal.
  • You get an email saying the business accepted and paid, with the amount, and that the money is in your Stripe account.
  • Everything else works like any accepted proposal. See What happens when a prospect accepts my proposal?

Good to know

  • Cards only at acceptance. Bank debit is not offered here, because the deal is marked won as soon as the payment is confirmed.
  • Only the deposit is charged. Legiit Leads does not collect the rest of the total later, so bill the balance the way you normally do.
  • No platform fee. The money goes to your Stripe account and Legiit Leads takes no cut.
  • If the proof page shows a message instead of the accepted banner after payment, see Why does the proof page say the payment was not completed after the prospect paid?
