How do I upgrade, downgrade or switch between monthly and annual?

Managing Your Subscription · Updated September 23, 2026

Open Settings, find the Your Plan card and click the plan you want in the Switch Plan (Prorated Instantly) row. The change is made on your existing subscription straight away, Stripe prorates the price difference on an invoice, and you see Switched to followed by the new plan's name. Upgrades, downgrades and moves between monthly and annual all work the same way.

Steps

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. In the Your Plan card, look below your current plan for the Switch Plan (Prorated Instantly) row.
  3. Click the plan you want. Each button shows the plan name and its price per month or per year, for example Agency Pro $297/mo or Agency Pro Annual $2970/yr.
  4. The card shows Switching… while the change goes through, then Switched to Agency Pro Annual. (with your new plan's name). The plan name at the top of the card updates to match.

What the row lists

The row shows every plan currently for sale, monthly and annual, except the one you are on. Annual plans carry the word Annual in their name and are priced per year:

  • Starter: $47/mo or $470/yr
  • Agency: $97/mo or $970/yr
  • Agency Pro: $297/mo or $2,970/yr
  • Agency Empire: $497/mo or $4,970/yr

To move from monthly to annual on the same tier, click the Annual version of your current plan. To go back, click the monthly version. Compare All Plans → next to the card title opens the full plan comparison in a new tab.

What changes when you switch

  • Billing. The new price replaces the old one on the same subscription, so you are never billed for two plans. Stripe prorates the change for the time left in your billing period and settles the difference on an invoice straight away.
  • Allowances and features. Your new plan's monthly searches, heatmap scans and features apply as soon as the switch is made. Searches you have already run this month still count toward the new allowance.
  • Free trial. Switching does not start a new 7 day free trial.

If it does not work

  • Your plan is managed by the account owner. You are signed in as a team seat, so the Your Plan card shows only that line, with no Switch Plan (Prorated Instantly) row. Ask the account owner to change the plan.
  • Switch failed. or another message under the card means the switch did not complete. Reload Settings, check which plan the card shows, and try again if it has not changed.
  • No Switch Plan row. Lifetime accounts, and accounts without a live subscription, do not see it. See why Manage Billing or Switch Plan may be missing.
  • You are sent to Stripe checkout instead. This happens when your old subscription has already ended, so there is nothing to switch. Completing checkout starts a new subscription on the plan you picked.
