Why does Settings say That current password is not right.?

Why the check is there

It proves that the person at the keyboard is you. Without it, anyone who found your laptop still signed in could move your login email to their own address and take the account over. The check runs for both changes, so Current Password has to be filled in whether you are changing your email or your password.

What to do

1. Clear the Current Password field and type your password again, exactly as you type it when you sign in. Capital letters count, and a trailing space will fail the check.
2. Fill in the change you want: a new address in Login Email, or a new password twice under New Password.
3. Click Change Email or Change Password. On success the green confirmation appears in the same spot.

The red message clears itself after 4 seconds. That is the message going away, not the change going through. Nothing was saved unless you saw the green confirmation.

If you no longer know your password

You cannot change it from Settings without it. Click Sign Out at the bottom of the sidebar, then Log In at the top of the sales page, then Forgot Password? under the Sign In button. The steps are in How do I reset a forgotten password?.

• Enter your current password to change your email. means the Current Password field was empty when you clicked Change Email.
• Enter your current password first. is the same thing for Change Password.
