What do the {placeholders} in email templates mean?

The standard slots

These are filled in for each lead before the AI starts writing:

• {name}: the contact's first name, from the decision-maker found with 🎯 Hunt Owner or the contact name you typed with ✎ Edit Details. Titles such as Dr. are left off. If no contact name is known, it becomes there, so "Hi {name}," reads "Hi there,". {first_name} works the same way.
• {business}: the business name.
• {city}: the lead's city.
• {niche}: the keywords of the search the lead came from. For a lead from Resurrect a List, that is the label you gave the import, or Imported list if you left it blank.
• {your_name}: Your Name on the Your Agency card in Settings. If that is blank, the first name on your account is used.
• {agency}: Company Name on the Your Agency card in Settings.
• {proof_link}: the link to the lead's proof page.
• {booking_link}: where the prospect books a call with you. When Show a booking block on my proof pages is ticked in Settings, it is the link in Use my own booking link (optional), or the booking section of the lead's proof page if that box is empty. When booking is off, it is the lead's proof page.

Capital letters and spaces inside the brackets do not matter: {Your Name} is filled the same as {your_name}. A slot whose value is missing, for example {agency} while Company Name is blank, is left for the AI like the slots below.

Template-specific slots

Some templates have slots of their own, such as {seconds} in Slow Website Opener and {free_tip} in Day 7 Value Add. When the template is an AI skeleton, the AI is told to replace each one with a specific verified fact from the lead's audit and never to leave a curly-bracket slot in the email.

If a slot still survives, the draft in the Outreach Queue is flagged with a message that it still contains a placeholder the AI could not fill from the audit, and you cannot approve that email until you edit the slot out. See why a draft says it still contains a placeholder.
