How do I give a client a Ring Proof tracking number?
Open the client's page, fill in the Ring Proof card and click Get Tracking Number. Legiit Leads buys an available US local number on your Twilio account and points it at the client's real phone, so every call still reaches them while you get a count, a recording and an AI classification for each one. Connect Twilio in Settings first.
Steps
- Click Clients in the sidebar and open the client.
- Scroll to the Ring Proof card, just below Client Setup.
- Area code (optional): type a 3 digit area code to get a local-looking number, or leave it blank to take whatever is available.
- Forwards to (their real number): the client's own phone. Type 10 digits, for example
8135551234. An 11 digit number starting with 1, or an international number starting with+, also works. - Source label: where you are going to publish the number, so you can tell the calls apart later. It starts as
Website, and anything else you type is fine, for exampleGoogle Business ProfileorFlyer. Up to 60 characters, and it becomesMainif you empty it. - Click Get Tracking Number. The button reads Provisioning… for a few seconds.
When it works, the card says Number live: with the new number, then Put it on their and your label. Give that number to the client for their Google Business Profile, their website or whichever place the label names, and leave their real number where it is.
How the number is chosen
Legiit Leads searches your Twilio account for US local numbers that can take voice calls, in your area code when you gave one, and takes the first one that orders successfully. Twilio charges a flat monthly rate for US local numbers, so there is no cheaper or dearer one to pick. If an order fails because the number has just gone, it tries up to 4 numbers before giving up.
If it does not work
- No numbers available for that area code. Try another or leave it blank. That area code is sold out. A neighbouring area code usually has stock.
- Number search failed. Is the Twilio account upgraded (not trial)? Twilio would not list any numbers. Check that your Twilio account is upgraded and still active, then try again.
- Connect your Twilio account first (Settings, Call Tracking). Set Twilio up on the Call Tracking card.
- Enter the destination number as 10 digits, e.g. 5551234567. The forwarding number was not readable. The Get Tracking Number button also stays greyed out until you have typed at least 10 digits.
- Twilio purchase failed followed by Trial accounts can't buy numbers; upgrade the Twilio account first. Upgrade your Twilio account, then try again.
- This is an Agency Pro feature. Upgrade in Settings for Client Command, Outreach Autopilot, White Label, and team seats. Tracking numbers need Agency Pro or Agency Empire.
What it costs
Twilio bills the number to your own Twilio account every month, around $1.15 for a US local number, plus the per-minute cost of each forwarded call and Twilio's charges for recording and transcription. Legiit Leads adds nothing on top. Your Twilio invoice is the source of truth for what you actually pay.
Releasing a number
Each live number sits in its own row on the card, showing the tracking number, an arrow, the number it forwards to and its label. Release gives the number back and asks you to confirm first: Calls to it will stop connecting. Release numbers you have stopped using so Twilio stops charging you the monthly fee, but only once the number is off the client's listings and adverts.
A client can have more than one tracking number. Give each one a different Source label and you can see which channel is actually making the phone ring.
