How do I connect Twilio for Ring Proof call tracking?

Retainers and Call Tracking · Updated September 23, 2026Agency Pro

Ring Proof runs on your own Twilio account, so you connect Twilio once and every client can then get a tracking number. In Settings, find the Call Tracking card, paste your Twilio Account SID (starts with AC) and Auth Token, and click Connect Twilio. Legiit Leads adds no per-number or per-minute charge of its own: Twilio bills you directly at its own rates.

Steps

  1. Sign in to your Twilio account and copy the Account SID and Auth Token from your Twilio dashboard.
  2. In Legiit Leads, click Settings in the sidebar and scroll to the Call Tracking card.
  3. Paste the SID into Account SID (starts with AC) and the token into Auth Token.
  4. Click Connect Twilio. The button reads Verifying… while Legiit Leads checks the details with Twilio.
  5. When it works, the card shows a green ✓ TWILIO CONNECTED and the name of your Twilio account.

The Connect Twilio button stays greyed out until the SID you typed starts with AC and the token is long enough to be real.

If it does not connect

The card shows the reason in purple under the fields:

  • That doesn't look like a Twilio Account SID (starts with AC). You have pasted something other than the Account SID. It starts with AC and is 34 characters long.
  • Twilio rejected the credentials with a status number. The SID and token do not match, or the token has been rotated in Twilio. Copy both again.
  • Twilio account status is followed by the status Twilio reports. Your Twilio account is not active. Sort it out in Twilio first.
  • Could not reach Twilio. Twilio did not answer. Try again in a minute.

Only the account owner connects or disconnects Twilio, and the connection then works for the whole workspace. On a team seat, Connect Twilio answers Carrier credentials are managed by the account owner., and Disconnect leaves the connection exactly as it is.

What it costs

Legiit Leads charges nothing per number or per minute. Everything runs on your Twilio account, and Twilio invoices you for:

  • A monthly fee for each tracking number, about $1.15 for a US local number.
  • Both legs of every forwarded call, the caller's leg and the leg to the client's real phone.
  • Recording and transcription.

Rates change and differ by country, so check Twilio's own pricing pages and your Twilio invoice for the real figures.

Good to know

  • You need an upgraded, non-trial Twilio account. Trial accounts cannot buy phone numbers, so number provisioning fails.
  • Connecting Twilio works on any plan, but adding a tracking number needs Agency Pro or Agency Empire. That is why the card carries a purple Pro badge.
  • Disconnect removes the credentials, and only the account owner can use it. It warns first: Disconnect Twilio? Existing tracking numbers stop being manageable from here. The numbers stay on your Twilio account, but Legiit Leads can no longer release them or fetch their recordings.
  • Your SID and token are stored sealed and are never sent back to the browser. Once connected, the card shows the green badge and a Disconnect button instead of the two boxes.
