Why was my domain rejected with "Enter a valid domain like reports.youragency.com"?
That message means what you typed is not a plain host name we can accept. The box wants just the address itself, like reports.youragency.com, with at least one dot in it. Correct it and click Claim Domain again.
What is accepted
- A host name with at least one dot, such as
reports.youragency.comoraudit.youragency.co.uk. - Letters, digits and hyphens only. No underscores, no spaces and no other punctuation.
- No part of the name may start or end with a hyphen.
- 253 characters at most in total.
What is rejected
- Anything ending in
legiitleads.comorlegiit.com. Those are our own addresses, so you cannot claim a name under them. - Names with characters outside letters, digits, hyphens and dots.
- A bare word with no dot in it.
Things that are not a problem
Pasting a whole web address is fine. The https:// at the front and anything after the first slash are removed for you before the name is checked, and capital letters are lowered, so https://Reports.YourAgency.com/proof is read as reports.youragency.com.
If Claim Domain looks greyed out and will not click at all, the box has fewer than 4 characters in it. Finish typing the address and the button comes back.
