How do I get my referral link, and how is a referral tracked?

What the link looks like

Your link is the Legiit Leads home page with ?via= and your own 8 character code on the end, something like ?via=1a2b3c4d. The code is created for you the first time the Partner Program card loads, and it never changes, so you can reuse the same link everywhere.

How a referral is tracked

1. Someone clicks your link. Their browser stores your code and the click is counted in clicks (90d).
2. They look around, try the demo, and create an account whenever they are ready.
3. The first time they sign in, the stored code is sent in and the account is attributed to you. From then on it counts in signups, and in paying once it is on a paid plan.

The stored code lasts 90 days from the click. After that it is ignored, and it is cleared once an attempt to attach it has been made.

What stops an attribution

The code is only attached when all of these are true:

• The visitor had not already clicked another partner's link in that browser. The first code a browser stores is the one that counts.
• The account was created less than 30 days ago.
• It has not already been attributed to another partner.
• The code matches a real partner account.
• It is not your own account. Referring yourself does not count.

Because the code is kept in the visitor's own browser, the same browser has to be used from the click through to signing in. A link clicked on a phone and then typed in by hand on a laptop will not be attributed to you.

Getting more out of it

Use the link exactly as Copy Link gives it. Adding ?via= to another page, such as the plans page or a help page, does not track. Once the visitor has landed on the home page they can look around anywhere and come back later, and the code still counts. A link in a training video description, a footer on your newsletter or a mention in a community post all track the same way, as long as the link keeps the ?via= part on the end.
